Here are three expectations to set for yourself when buying a home.

It’s no surprise that we are still in a competitive market that favors sellers. As a homebuyer—especially a first-time homebuyer—it can be overwhelming to try to find your next home. Today I’ll share some tips to give you an idea of what to realistically expect and how an agent can be your biggest advocate during the process:

  1. Don’t get too emotional. Try to keep a clear head, and don’t let emotions take over. Real estate transactions can be emotional affairs, so let your Realtor, a detached professional, guide you through the process.
  2. Don’t panic about the appraisal. If the appraisal comes in low, don’t panic—99% of the time, we’re able to come up with a solution that works for everyone involved.
  3. Understand the pros and cons of waiving contingencies. Waiving the inspection, appraisal, or financing contingencies is a strategic way to make your offer stronger, but doing so can create problems. An agent will help you navigate the potential risks so you can decide what’s best for you.

These are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to buying in today’s market. If you have any questions or would like more information about navigating this huge life decision, please give us a call or send an email.
